Resize an Image for Instagram

Make square, portrait and story versions of the same photo, each framed exactly how you want, before Instagram crops it for you. Your photo never leaves your device.

Instagram portrait

Instagram portrait: 1080 × 1350 px JPEG. This is the platform’s recommended upload size. Keep faces and text away from the edges, because some apps crop the preview. Need different settings? Use one of My sizes.

Your photo stays in this tab. Only preset settings are saved in this browser.

Which Instagram size to use

Portrait 1080 × 1350 (4:5) takes up the most space in the feed and is usually the best choice for posts. Square 1080 × 1080 is the classic format and is how your grid displays thumbnails. Stories and Reels covers are 1080 × 1920 (9:16). Landscape 1080 × 566 is available too, but appears smallest in the feed.

Stories: mind the safe zone

The profile name at the top and the reply bar at the bottom cover roughly 250 px of a story. Both areas are shaded on the story crop, so you can keep text and faces in the clear middle.

Three steps, no upload.

Most file tools send your files to someone else's server first. NoUpload doesn't.

For client work, ID scans, medical documents, unreleased product shots, or anything else you do not want sitting in a stranger's storage, the safer upload is the one that never happens.

File processing runs in your browser. Google Analytics records page views and anonymous tool-usage events, but NoUpload does not send filenames, metadata values, file sizes, image blobs, or other file details as analytics data.

  • Your files never leave your device
  • No account, sign-in, or email required
  • Analytics events record only which tool and page were used
  • No server-side file processing path

Don’t take our word for it. Check.

Anyone can claim files stay on your device. Here is how to confirm it yourself in under a minute, with tools already in your browser.

  1. Open the Network panel. Press F12 (Windows/Linux) or ⌥⌘I (Mac) and choose the Network tab.
  2. Process a file. Add an image and run any tool, then download the result.
  3. Read the requests. You will see page assets and small anonymous analytics pings. No request carries your image.

Or go further: load the page, switch off Wi-Fi, and use the tool. Processing still works, because it never needed a server.

Common questions

Instagram only accepts aspect ratios between 4:5 and 1.91:1 in the feed. Cropping it yourself to an exact size means you choose what stays in the frame.
